Re: The Nuvi 205 - Part 3

A normal speed card will suffice and 256MB is more than enough. If is for just Malsingmap, thats ok. Otherwise a 2GB card may be a prudent purchase considering its well within affordability. I have one particular map which is 1.6GB in size and lucky I could use back the ori supplied card from my ph...

Re: The Nuvi 255W - Part 3

Meanwhile, my Nuvi is mostly defaulted to the more updated Malsingmap thus JCV maybe out of the picture.
Thanks for the info, I just hope my Nuvi will not go cranky. It did actually, it hang on one trip.

Thanks but I'm at Klang Valley, not located at S'pore.

Re: The Nuvi 255W - Part 3

Funny thing is, I've yet to view that kind of JCV graphic on my 255W posted above, only lane view AFAI recall. Maybe I've not yet been to some of those locations.

Re: New Garmin Friction Mount

I had a near disaster with using those non slip mat in my MyVi dash, lucky didn't leave it longer as it would have certainly left the profile stain on it indefinitely. Our weather is harsh and the heat can destroy or melt many things. I've now a phobia on these non slip stuff on the local car dash. ...

Re: The Nuvi 255W - Part 3

Yes, am hoping to find the best cable I can afford. This is really the second time I'm experiencing USB cable compatibility. USB extension cables (even half meter ones) can affect a USB WIFI adapter performance. Anyway, my adventure continues with a newly bought Kingston 4GB SDHDC card from Carrfour...

Re: The Nuvi 255W - Part 3

Geez... been having intermittent problems in the USB interface. Still trying to determine if its my desktop PC USB going cranky, 255W sensitive to types and length of USB cable or the 255 is faulty to some degree. Anyway, I'm going to Low Yat to find a really good short length USB data cable. I can'...

Re: The Nuvi 255W - Part 3

Not to worry, that was just a passing comment sharing what I may have found. Wasn't meant as a direct error report. I'll be going through (part of my learning process), hopefully find more, report all my findings one shot, rather than one by one. Meanwhile, I find copying data to this old microSD ca...

Re: The Nuvi 255W - Part 3

My adventure continues. Found a freebie pouch (courtesy of my son who works in a cellphone co) that fits the Nuvi perfectly. Also dug up my old N82 2GB microSD card and adapter, copied the CGS malsing map and voila!.. got 2 maps to fool around with. The cgs map have far more details than the MSM NT ...

Re: The Nuvi 255W - Part 3

Garmin repairs for this part of world are all done at their Taiwan center. I ain't sure or investigate further on how 1-1 exchange works amongst dealers but if one have to send back to Taiwan for repairs, then I'd anticipate one is going to miss the Garmin for a period of time, am I right? Just lik...
