Where to buy in Geneva?

I will be going to Geneva next week. Any of our Europoean friends know of a shop in Geneva which sells Garmin handhelds at a good price? Is it cheaper than in Singapore?

I might be doing some light hiking, so thought of getting a set with the Swiss/European maps.

Thanks.

Re: Satellite reception with unit facing up and down

I agree with you that normal operation might not give noticeable degradation. But during initial lock, the GPS needs 30 seconds to download the 50bps clock, ephermeris and almanac data from each satellite. 12.5minutes for complete almanac download. If you miss one bit of data, then have to do all o...

Re: Satellite reception with unit facing up and down

Performed experiment with nuvi 200W at location that has clear view of the sky. First picture shows satellite strength when unit is held horizontal with LCD screen facing up. Second picture is at the same location but with LCD screen facing down. Tried to use 3 fingers to block the signal, found th...

Re: Nuvi - General Discussion - Part 2

Alternatively, if you have sufficient memory space in the unit itself, might want to consider putting the files directly in the unit. Locations are like in the SD card. Maps go into the Garmin folder. POIs go into the POI subfolder in the Garmin folder. I did a quick comparison with malsingmap (just...

Re: The Nuvi 200W - Part 2

Oh ok. Thanks. The thing is that thin manual which came with mine... didn't even mention this red disk thinggy..... You might want to download the 7xx series manual: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/store/manual.jsp?product=010-00657-20&cID=134&pID=10625 A number of us find it useful as it's ...

Re: The Nuvi 200W - Part 2

I just tried it this morning to work. It will auto re-calculate when one strays away from its previous calculated path. But still, it will ask me to exit the expressway earlier and snake through the smaller roads instead of what I usually take. :-? (I chose shortest route instead of fastest in this...

Re: The Nuvi 260

Not sure what you mean by finger problems. Destination was properly chosen (I did say that the checkered flag was correct, rt). The unit was already routing properly to the destination when it just stopped the routing without reaching the final destination. Anyway, if you had read on, you'll know th...

Re: Nuvi 200 (UK) and MalSing Maps

I've never re-booted before. Before you consider that, you might want to see if this helps. Turn on your simulator (ie the unit will stop trying to acquire satellites). Since you can see the malsing maps, manually go to where you are on the map. Set your locations there. Then turn off the simulator....
