I did have the same problem before. I found that if you have GMPC software active, the problem may disappear. But it does not solve the problem on my second PC. Try using MapInstall from Garmin.

I'm using MainNav MG-950d logger from Taiwan which is ~ USD100. It can log 130,000 points. It come with reachargeable Li-ion battery that can last for 13 hrs. It has LCD display and Bluetooth. I have submited two tracks here. I'm yet to test the bluetooth feature.
