Garmin Mobile XT - General Discussion

#1 Post by ngtp1971 » Thu Aug 23, 2007 10:40 pm

How do I retrieve save tracks from Mobile XT? I tried MapSource "Trasnfer" but it reports that I do not have any saved tracks. ](*,) Where is the file kept? Can someone advise? I have tracks to contribute but have no idea how to get it out from my N73. :-? Thanks.

In GMXT, [Tools] [Manage My Data] [Manage] [Export GPX].

Then use Mapsource.

Got the following error in MapSource after I followed your instruction and execute "Transfer". Was told to send this to Garmin to report error. Should I do it? Any idea what's wrong? :ko:

After you exported the tracks, how did you open in Mapsource?

I did exactly what's described in that post leh. How come my MapSource report error when I try "transfer"? ](*,) Is there an issue with versions? I'm using MapSource v6.12.4. My Mobile XT is 4.10.20.

Yes, download the latest update for Mapsource (6131) and install over your current installation, after that you should be able to do the transfer.

For those looking for Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile

#8 Post by programatix » Mon Sep 03, 2007 2:26 am

Hi,

As a newbie, I do not know where to get my hands on Garmin Mobile XT after I purchased a brand new Garmin 10x. The package which I bought at Plaza Low Yat does not come with any CD.

So, I began my search for the software at Garmin's web site. After some trial and error, I now have the latest Garmin Mobile XT installed on my PPC. Here's the link to the downloads:

Garmin Mobile XT for Pocket PC with GPS 10 software version 4.10.01w Beta as of April 30, 2007
Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile software version 4.10.20w as of July 30, 2007
Garmin Mobile XT Support Files software version 4.xx.xx as of July 11, 2007

Download all the 3 files above and install them in order. This will result in a full version installation of Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile.

I also found out that the Garmin MXT installation is very flexible. If you install the software in a Storage Card, you can just plug in the Storage Card in any Windows Mobile PPC and it will prompt you for installation on that PPC. Another way to install on a new PPC is to go to the Garmin\Apps\WM folder and run QueSetupPPC.cab (Windows Mobile) or QueSetupSP.cab (Smart Phone).

I hope this little post will help newbies out there like me in getting a working copy of Garmin MXT.

Thanks for the guide.

You mentioned that Mobile XT could be installed to the PDA's memory card.

I have 10x with O2 Mini. Installation of MXT running fine, but on main memory. Been searching the way to install it to the storage card. MSM wiki

http://www.malsingmaps.com/wiki/index.p ... ows_Mobile

on MXT installation section yet to complete.

The CAB file will auto-install to main memory. I used a small utility called CAB Installer (cabinstl.exe) so that I can customize the install dir to the mem card, but after installation the \Storage Card\Garmin folder is just empty like nothing ever happened.

Hope you can guide me on this. Thank you.
