Hi all ,

Im a newbie here . .
I've been using samsung i780 for the last one week ,
in the spec they did mention about the gps .
i've try to install the Mapking but can't found the right setting for the unit .

The unit unable to detect any satellite signal ,
if anyone had the same unit .. would you mind to share how to do the setting ,

I believe it doesn't have a built in gps receiver, so you need an external one... :mrgreen:

There is an internal gps for the samsung phone. But it seems to have problem when running certain gps program that may cause problem to the phone.

Try those com/port setting in the device.

Check the device which com/port the internal gps receiver set to.

From the software setting, set the com/port to the same as the device..... :-k

Why don't you lay down steps taken from installing the gps sofware (which mapking version) to installing the map. Then it will be much easier for the bros here to help you.

It is not me who is using this phone. Please refer to TS. I am just pointing out that this phone cause problem in a variety of gps program including gpsgate.

I am also very interested on this 780i, however my only concern is it unable to run GPSProxy + Garmin Que, and teh screen resolution is 320x320, don't know it will display maps properly?

Here Melaka selling RM1899 free 4Gb Micro card + extra standard battery.

Finally i think i manage to activate the gps ,
gotta hard reset the unit first and try the gps function by Google Map
and guess what , the unit detect 6 satellite .. good already i think..

i guess next step is try to install the mapking or garmin XT :tq: :tq:

Latest Franson's GPSGate 2.6 build 308 fixes this bug in i780, so now you can run most GPS apps with GPSGate as proxy. See: http://www.franson.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7070

Any one know that this phone compatible with gpsproxy? can it run with gpsproxy? :tq:

When I try to click start(from gpsproxy) the whole phone hang up need soft reset.
or sometime it give me an error
"the NMEA input provider failed to start: createfile failed:55"

My GPS Proxy as below:
ver gpsproxy 2.2c
GPS com: 9
output com:4

garmin application port: 2

virtual port 2
