Is confirm that gpsproxy can not run on wm6.1 coz my depod also upgrade to wm6.1 and gpsproxy fail to load.

samsung i780 dunno why can't use garmin que... when go to navigate it will hang and prompt device.exe error and need to send microsoft.

but it work fine with samsung mobile navigator (dont need any proxy or gpsgate) and Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile Ver. 4.20.30w with gpsgate v2.6 build308. and with malsing map ver.1.26. still not yet test for the unlock map coz not yet request for the unlock it for this new phone..... i think the software id should be the unit id that mention in map unlock guide.

for those that need chinese display and input. dont install ce star coz it not support at all... just install 梅花输入60 you will get the chinese input. wm6.1 will display simplified Chinese automatically.

hope this will help to save i780 user time to try an error. enjoy your new toy!!!

Just some update mobile XT and samsung navigator both also dont need to use gpsgate. Coz it can use direct internal gps. You just need to request new unlock code from malsings. and i tested the new maps work fine. I also found that gpsgate will hang the device. Maybe some of my contact using chinese word(even samsung navigator will hang some time you search by contact).

CE star issue need to install the lastest version of CE star 2.8 R3c will do.

for those that told me the problem of samsung i780 is 320 x 320 that a lot of application can't run well, but so far so many application that i install only gpsgate i can't use the wizard. but anyway, you can switch the mode using real vga 96dpi this will solve the problem. for more info http://www.csicw.com/mb/forum/thread-95-1-1.html (chinese version only)

and please take note that this handphone dont have an in car charger(coz gps navigation is battery hurry). to solve this problem, buy and DC to AC inverter and plug in the ac charger will do.

In Malaysia, package will come with 2 battery but the black box look like a battery casing DONT THROW it coz it is a desktop charger you can just plug in the ac charger to charge your second battery!!!

GaryTan, how do you find the performance of the built-in GPSr especially when running GMXT? Any issues running GMXT in 320x320 secreen? Thanks for sharing.

Had the same prob when I got the device.. Tried everything GPSGate, samsung.garmin.com etc. Well after testing for weeks.. do this:

Install port splitter http://www.gpsmeter.com/index.php?page=downloads and Mapking

On your Phone
1.) Go to settings->System
2.) Click Enhanced GPS, then set XTRA to enable
3.) Click External GPS, under Programs set the port to COM8. Then under Hardware, set the port to COM9 and baud rate to 4800.
4.) Go to Port Splitter
5.) Under Input, set the port to COM8. Then set the Baud rate to 4800. (sometimes it default to com 9 .. just type in COM8 manually.)
6.) Under Output, set port to COM6. Click Add and then press Start. The port splitter is now enabled.
7.) Open Mapking 2007.
8.) Go to Tools->GPS/Track
9.) Set GPS setting to "By User". Then for the port enter COM6 and for the Baud Rate 4800.
10) Then click the GPS Icon. Mapking is now trying to acquire a GPS lock.
11.) Go out - Enjoy ..

wizard boy,

You don't need to have gpsgate.

I have managed to run GMXT and Google map simultaneously with no issues.

dvpro,

GMXT works fine on 320x320.

Performance wise, it manages to get 3D location within 1 minute on a cold start surprisingly with less 'bars' as compare to my external holux GPSr.

Hmm? Samsung built in GPSr works with Garmin Mobile XT?
Samsung.gramin.com do sell Gramin but didn't see SG/MY maps.

Or you are using the "force" from the dark side.... :mrgreen:

Have Samsung solve the hard reset problem? Apparently if your i780 hang and you can't use the keypad or touchscreen there is no way to do a hard reset via buttons, power buttons, etc. It seems that a number of users have a brick i780 due to this problem. I was thinking of buying this phone until I read a number of threads in a few forums talking about this problem.
