What sort of 2nd car do you plan to mount the GPSr? My RM2 mount might work for you

Hard to help you when you never put a country in your profile ](*,) :-' Please edit and put country of origin

If you are in Singapore, visit Perfect Watch@SLS and look for Mr Yan. Garmin has a new style vehicle mount for Nuvis as an alternative to the bean-bag or windscreen mount. It features a non-skid bottom and pliable base to keep the mount secure on your dashboard. The integrated arm can be folded down for easy storage in an automobile console or in luggage. You can bend it to suite dashboard profile.

OK ... when I signed in i dont remember seeing a "location" question or I would have filled in already, took me some time to find the "profile" setting in my control panel

bernGPS I message you about your mount O:)

silverbeauty, i went to Perfect Watch before, the "standard" suction cup mount is about $40 from them, i can't decide if I want a suction cup mount or this kind of non-skid mount. What if I have to e-brake? The non-skid should be better than a bean bag, but is still not good enough stop it from sliding and hitting the windscreen right?

BeanBag or non-skid, it takes a lot of force to move it. I have the bean bag and so far pretty good on e-brakes ...

Anyway, suction sucks big time in our climate ... the heat causes it to drop more than a couple of times ... landed my Nuvi on the floor of my car

Both Beanbags and suction mounts have their pro and con's . If you are driving on a smooth road then a beanbag would be great. Try to drive on a slightly bumpy road or those yellow highway bumps to make you slow down I you would see the beanbag fly in all direction.

As for the suction mounts. it would all depend on the surface of the suction mount. The bigger it is , the longer it would stay on the windshield . In addition it would depend greatly on which aircond's vent you are using in your car. (not talking about this one of course ! :butthead: ) . It is also good to mention that a suction mount might spoil your tint if cheap glue has been used for the film.

Lastly, for what concerns the price of the GPS from Garmin and parallel importers as called, the choice is up to the user as long as they know what they are buying. The worst scenario would be to buy a recond' unit for the price of a new one.

Some importers would tell and some won't. It would be also good to report that many parallel importers get reconditioned units here into Malaysia to sell at the local distributor's price.

It is the buyers choice. Make sure you make the right one.

Cheers.
