I wonder how this new friction mount is going to handle curved dashboard surface. The bean bag type will just follow the contour.

It has a rubberise base, can bend to suit different curve... :thumbsup:

Some users have complaint that the non-skid material from the new Garmin friction mount leaves marks on the dashboard if it's left in the sun.

Possible to clean away the marks? Using lighter fluid perhaps?

Lousy material used.... :-k , imean the dashboard.... :mrgreen: , so far no issue with mine, had been there since 2 weeks...day and night, rain and shine.... :wink:

I got mine in the 765 sg/my bundle as well. It's quite nice actually, since the entire base is soft enough to bend to the shape you want and yet hard enough to support the 765.

It hasn't left any marks on my dashboard (yet) but I must say that the base gets dirty quite easily, since it's made of a sticky rubbery non-slip material. I tried wiping it with a damp cloth, but it didn't help much, and I don't expect using alcohol on this is recommended since it would also clean away the non-slip property of the base.

UPDATE: I found that using a special cleaner called "Cyber-clean" helps to a certain degree, although it's got some alcohol in it. I don't recommend this step yet, since I just tried it earlier today. There might be some long-term effects...

Right way to clean is with soap and rinse with water.
