Unlike PC Basemap which has no auto routing feature, this one is basically the same map downloadable from Garmin site (linked from Wiki) originally for the iQue 3600 but made to be readily installed to be used in Mapsource (no need to generate mapset manually). This map is only for display purposes (incl. auto-routing) on the PC, as you cannot select it to upload it to the GPS (for this use the installer that came from the original basemap download from Garmin). I've also got the same basemap in Garmin Que, but viewing on the PC is much better, and I find it useful to calculate approx. road distances among major cities in the world. Hope it'll be useful for others too.

Just want to share this one as well, more relevant for those using the Mobile XT.

It's the routable free base map of the World. I stumble across it while trying to build my own "Spare-PDA-with-no-BT-or-GPSr-but-wanna-use-malsingmaps-as-street-map" project. Anyone interested to do same can PM me...

here is the link for the ww basemap. actually it is for ique 3600 but it also work for other garmin GPSr, it works on my 76csx. although it is 2004 it have more coverage than my preinstall basemap that cover only this region not worldwide.

how to use the map?

1) download from the link.
2) after download dont double click the file coz it is in .exe format.
3) i use winrar to extract all the file in the download file. (try winzip but cannot)
4) after extract all the file, upload the GMAPBMAP to your GPSr (i'm using send map 2.0 coz it is easier).

There is already a newer 2007 version of the same title. Can't remember the version number but I've already loaded it into my Nuvi.

Beats me if you asked what the differences are but it's a slightly smaller file than the 2003 version.
