(can't reply back your PM) hehe...time for upgrade ya...'racun' you to get the 60csx or 76csx (if can wait further, get the upcoming "Hcx" series - it sound to good to e true hehe). All the necessary tips & M.O are at the wiki, so read & understand the basics....Personally, it takes a lot of time, patient & agility (of course petrol too :-$ ) to get those wonderful 'golden tracks' hehe...apart from collecting those tracks, you must also be able to translate/manipulate the collected datas (waypoints, additional notes, POIs, etc) in ways that the mapper will able to pick up....advice: practice & practice till perfection!! Don't forget, do invest in some ext antenna, voice recorder & a pair of Oakley sunglasses for your tracking gears :nehneh:

well, get those recommended device first, then we can share further

For a quick and simple solution, I've found that Map Man and WinTopo Freeware works a treat!

Help Converting Tracks in MapEdit

#19 Post by pulaublakangmati » Sun Sep 28, 2008 8:38 am

Been trying to convert a set of tracks using mapedit but the polyline does not match the original tracks well, very poor resolution. Could you advise about how tracks are converted to polyline? Also I have problems shifting the nodes used for the polyline. If this qn has come up before please redirect me if u know where a reply can be found! Quite new to mapping, but would love to learn more!

A bit too general for specific answers. In general most mappers would draw polylines on top of multiple tracks instead of automatic conversion. Remember automatic conversion will only be based on one track. So when for more accuracy you use multiple tracks you still have to tweak/adjust the automatically converted tracks.

For more specific advice on conversion of tracks to polylines, post a sample gdb of those tracks. 8-)
