A good start would be at the Help/Wiki section on the main page. Creating your own maps

Yes, unfortunately, the Nuvis don't have that track log recording function.

What a pity. Didn't do enough research before getting a GPSR.... :(

I'm really keen on making maps, as some of the outskirts and new highway routes are not yet mapped (eg, new highway between Muar and Melaka, some of the housing estates, etc.). These places, google earth map resolution too low to be useful....

Can anyone make a recommendation on a good Garmin GPSR which can be used for mapping purposes? Read the Wiki links already, but perhaps if someone can write a clear tutorial with a working example, and specify what are the minimum hardware and software needed, more people can get involved.

Have to get another GPSR then - hard to be a contributor with just a Nuvi 300 in hand....

So far from my personal view, the handheld series with external antrenna is the best for gold standard tracking
and bro cruiseantz is one hell of an excellent tracker in malsingmaps. You should get tips from him.

You can start in the wiki/help section.

This is the direct link in wiki for tracking and creating personal maps.
