For example, some mentioned Nuvi 205 doesn't have track log capability but I also read a post that say it does but there's certain setting to enable this (something like no map loaded, not attached to road, etc. if I'm not mistaken).
The Nuvi 205 is the cheapest model available today since the Nuvi 200 was discontinued. Instead of a 'Track Log' feature, it has a native 'Trip Log' feature which does almost the same thing except that you cannot select the level of detail for the Trip Log (1-sec logs are not possible) and you cannot stop the Trip Log. It starts automatically every time you switch your unit on and stops only when you switch off. The only option you have is to either show or hide the trace made. Can be a dangerous thing as whoever gets hold of your GPS will know exactly where you have been.

what is track log capability?
what is it mean?
In addition to the link provided by Bro 9W2CBL, the following additional info on Track Logs may be of interest to you. Track Logs are simply just electronic recordings of your location, time, speed, heading, leg length (the distance between 2 track-points) and elevation. More expensive models allow you to choose the frequency of the track points:
1.
by time interval (e.g. 1-sec logs) or
2.
by distance intervals (e.g every 10m or even 1m) or
3.
by Auto or Intelligent mode which works on the change of heading (the Nuvi 205's Trip Log works in this mode and a track point is triggered when there is a change in heading of 5-7 degrees or more.)
If you are lucky enough to be able to buy a Nuvi 2x0 or 2x0W with the correct HWID, you can enable a hidden 1-sec track log feature without having to pay the price for the high-end models. Read
