CAN YOU LOCATE ME???

#1 Post by HighlandPathFinder » Thu Jul 16, 2009 9:35 pm

Hi everyone,

Just for the sake of curiousity - is it possible for us to locate one another using our GPS device?

Cheers.

Hmm... Maybe for GMXT and coming Nuvifone only. That is, if the device has a SIM card running.

Tools -> Location Messages.

Are you referring to this?

Yes and not quite. While with GMXT could use "PeerPoint" - the location message that you mentioned, I don't quite understand the 76CSx because I tried to search for such tool but in vain. My question really is, while we are on the move is it possible to locate each other?

Just imagine that it creates wonders if I can locate my brother while we are on a hunting trip or anywhere for that matter, huh!!

Cheers

You can get the new Nuvifone and use Ciao! Depending on your privacy settings, your location can be updated at whatever interval u wish. So a person who is authorised to see you would know where you are - and he just have to tap "Go" and it will route him directly to you.

Try the emulator on garminasus.com and see if it meets what you are looking for.

I use Google Latitude. Its free.

http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/latitude/intro.html

Google Latitude is a feature of Google Maps for mobile on these phones:

* Android-powered devices, such as the T-Mobile G1
* iPhone and iPod touch devices (coming soon)
* most color BlackBerry devices
* most Windows Mobile 5.0+ devices
* most Symbian S60 devices (Nokia smartphones)
Mappers wanted. Read this to get started. Payment = Recognition = Priceless.

In the jungle that highlandpathfinder frequent, I doubt a handphone is of any use except maybe throw at a sambar deer.
