Re: Hardware Compatibility & Map Versions Guide

#201 Post by auggie80 » Sun Oct 21, 2012 9:07 am

Hi all
I am new here (being thrown to this site by my garage who was lazy to help me update my maps already).

I have a nuvi 5000 installed and I downloaded the latest map from this site. But when following the steps, I found that my map image file is gmapprom instead of gmapsupp as described.
So i just rename the downloaded file as gmapprom for it to work?

Any advise is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi All,

I'm a newbie as well. I just downloaded the latest maps Gmapsupp v574 but aren't sure if my Nuvi 1350 supports JCV. Also if it does support JCV, do I just copy & paste the entire zip file over to my Garmin's memory like what I saw in the youtube video or do I unzip the file & copy 1 or both the files over to the map folder that I created in my Garmin's main memory?

I was thinking of getting Garmin's Lifetime Update Kit but balked when I was told that the price is $69!

Many thanks in advance.

#203 Post by JCMT » Mon Nov 12, 2012 7:46 pm

Good evening. I just bought a Garmin GPS, Nuvi 2595 LMT. I would like to find out how to install MalSin map of Singapore and Malaysia into the device. Any senior can guide me along as which is compatible to my device? Thank you very much. :muak:

Hi JCMT ...
I don't have 2595LMT and not sure about it. But you can download MSM map HERE.

- Unzip the file. (There are 2 files - gmapsupp.img and product.jcv)
- create 'Garmin' folder in your SD card, save the 'gmapsupp.img' into the folder.
- create 'JCV' folder in 'Garmin' folder and save the 'product.jcv' in the folder.

Best of luck.

Hi I am new here.

I plan to get a nuvi 2595 LMT from the US since I am currently posted there. I would be returning to Singapore sometime next year and was wondering if nuvi 2595 LMT will work in Singapore with all the features like Live traffic updates, speed limit indicator and Junction view etc, etc when i install Malsing map.

Thank you all very much for your help in advance.

Depending on which map you are installing but generally, JCV doesn't work on with the Garmin CN 2012.xx and MSM 2012.xx maps of Sg/My/Bru but will work on our MSM v5.xx map. However, for the MSM v5.xx map, JCV is limited to a few junctions in SIngapore and more in Malaysia but still not as many as the other 2 maps. AFAIK, live traffic updates will not work. Speed limit indicator should not be a problem since the data is embedded in the map and not with the device.
