Dear All;
Hi , just wondering is there anyone out there know how to "activate" the GPS which already built-in in most CBU or imported vehicles? Coz as I understands most of those from Japan's cars already came built-in with GPS some even with weather,traffics reports and also voice activations.
I think its cool if Proton Edar try to saves its business , they should consider making GPS as part of the standard accessories,after all we all had to pay for Stickers,Spoilers,Alloys,Sun shades regardless u like it or not,so why not GPS?Rather than sell it to VW!

FYI, the new patch of Proton Persona H-line (full spec) will come with MyNavi mobile GPS (http://www.mynavi.com.my) at the expense of removing the Captor system. The Price remain the same.

Hi

I used to have the old Proton Gen2 and upgraded to the new Persona high-line.

My experience with Captor is mixed. Sometimes they cannot track me but I guess they don't have coverage everywhere. But there were may other times when I accidentally forgot to disarm CAPTOR and opened the doors and the Captor people called me to see if I was okay within a few minutes!!! I thought that was very good.

The new Persona did come with the new GPS navigator mynavi... but I found that it was a cheap China brand system.
The map is lousy.
The user interface is lousy,
It constantly gave me wrong directions.
I hate it.

This mynavi is supposed to be a navigation system and I find it totally useless. Even my Dopod 810 is more accurate and gives better directions, and it is also a smartphone!!

(But I do like the car, hehehe!)

I do not think mynavi can be compared with CAPTOR, because CAPTOR is a tracking system used for the recovery of stolen cars. My insurance company Kurnia is sending me brochures to install Captor, so I guess they must be pretty good. But Captor uses RF and not GPS so it is not comparing Apple to Apple.

I cannot believe they say the normal retail price for this mynavi is $1,900++. You might as well get a GPS phone that will work much better.

If you want navigation, don't get mynavi!!!!

Dear Grumpy;
Thanks for the valuable reply and your true experience of MyNavi.Yeah I do agree with you on the facts u posted , and I can get similar product from China at about RMB 350 to RM500 max.This is no doubt another ripped off scam.....hahahaha......but better than last time where Proton charge u dearly for stickers , spoilers,linings etc hehehehehe..... :nehneh:
Persona is a good car i do agree.....however we all hoped that our nation made car can reli make it tis time.
By paying 1,900++ i might as well buy a Dopod and dig a hole on my dashboard stick it in then also touch screen,also on board GPS wahahaha :nutz: !!

And their tag line is "Powered by TM". Lucky me for not buying MyNavi.

LOL

Powered by TM indeed!!!

The other day I was driving from Mont Kiara to Bangsar, and the navigator wanted me to go through the Kerinchi Link Highway and through the small roads and end up around Jalan Maarof to reach Bangsar.

The fastest and most simple way would have been to go straight down the road, and turn left. Zzzzzz

"You are going the wrong way. Make a U-Turn" is MyNaVi's favourite tag-line!

Sigh - this GPS navigator is horrible. Absolutely simply horrible. Typical for Proton to offer such a sub-standard product for their cars.

I would not be surprised if someone from Proton was "getting a cut" for putting in such a lousy product!
