look like doesn't work on mine with multiple gmapsup1.img or gmapsup2.img but i have sd and cf card. it recognise each gmapsupp.img as well as in the internal memory.

i can only have 3 gmapsupp located in 3 different location.
tested using the 3 nov lock gmapsupps. but unlock code doesn't work if the gmapsupp in the internal memory. not sure why

there is no gmapsup1.img.

you can do this to have 4 locked gmapsupp. (This is just one of the ways as you can also combine the unl file)

internal memory:
gmapsupp.img
gmapsupp.unl

gmapsup2.img
gmapsup2.unl

card:
gmapsupp.img
gmapsupp.unl

gmapsup2.img
gmapsup2.unl

How to use >1 gmapsupp file simultaneously

#24 Post by pzull » Mon Dec 24, 2007 2:59 pm

Hi.
I have malsing in one gmapsupp file and THai map in another gmapsupp file.
How do I make both available each simultaneously on my Garmin 200?
Right now I have to hide one in a sub-folder and use PC to switch them in and out of the Garmin folder which means I can only access one gmapsupp file at a time
There is loads of excess memory in the Garmin for both
Please helpThanks

browse tru this forum and the answers to your question, which has been asked countless times are there, since I'm feeling nice now, here's the solution. put one gmapsupp.img in your garmin device and the other gmapsupp.img in the garmin folder of your sd card. Only 2 gmapsupp.img at any one time, one in main memory, the other in sd card. There you go!

Thanks I know this can be done but I was wondering why there isnt a way to use all of the internal memory for more maps or for that matter even more maps in a large SD card.

There is a feature in Settings> Map Info that seems to let you select maps but it only shows the two maps named gmapsupp (one in int memory and the other in SD card). If current formware doesnt recognise other filenames then hopefully future upgrades will allow naming syntax like gmapsuppth, gmapsuppsg, gmapsuppmy, etc. Makes life alot easier

Waypoint, i dont understand where you're coming from?

Well for a start, some maps may be very big. Taiwan Map for example is around 70MB (so I hear). So not
all maps are small like Malsing's 24MB+. Then again, you can patch different maps together to form one
huge map. So you see by patching, you can have the world in your internal memory. If you want to
fill it up, that's one way to do it.

Besides Gmapsupp, I think Gmapprom are also used in some units.

Some devices support the use of GMAPSUP2.IMG, but I'm not sure if yours does.

The other alternative is to copy both files on the PC and use sendmap20 to merge the 2 files together as a single GMAPSUPP.IMG.

Thanks for tip. My Thai map is about 92mb and locked. Will I still be able to merge/patch the malsing map with it?
