Device for track logging

#1 Post by ahbahari » Wed Jan 30, 2008 10:36 pm

Dear all

So silly to ask your guys here

Where to start huh..

Planning to contribute more by track logging as my nuvi cannot do it.

Any model suggested just to do track logging? I wish I could do more comprehensive research before buying my present nuvi but the rest of the functions... it really amazing for starter like me...

So I open it to you guy to help me decide.. :prayer:

Thanks in advance

There is a way for the 200 series to be able to track.

Alternately, get those BT GPSr that has tracking function.

Bro ahbahari, if you have firmware version 3.4 on your Nuvi 200, you have the capability to do tracking thus saving you :$gone: to invest in a unit that can do tracking. Please do a search in threads for link to download V3.4 if you do not have.

Bro ahbahan,

I was stuck with a Nuvi for a very long time.... until I got the Holux M1200 and running it on my notebook using Bluetooth Dongle/nRoute/GPSgate combination. The nRoute does it job (tracking) very well and user friendly too. Typing street/roads name is a breeze with a notebook. The best part is the low price of the M1200 ~RM300.00. For an even cheaper solution you can go for the Holux M1000 ~ RM250.00. The M1000 uses the rechargable Li-Ion BL-5C Nokia handphone battery... cheap and user changable, while the M1200 is not but much better looking.

Set Up :-

- Holux M1200 - RM300.00
- Bluetooth Dongle - RM25.00
- Mapsource - Free
- nRoute - Free
- GPSGate for PC - US$15.00
- Notebook ..... ](*,)

The choice is yours.... cheers!

Just wondering, can Java go such low level and get the NMEA logs from GPS (unless the Java libraries already provide such function)? This reminds me of Microsoft J++ implementation which can do Directx.

Hi sorry replying late as have to go to seremban court to be as a murder case witness

Well, I currently using Nuvi200 indonesia version. Too bad as it software cannot be upgraded to 3.4v ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

It is a interesting alternative as suggested by bro MoeyHC. I will take it as an option but thinking to bring along a laptop during tracking will not the really best idea ... #-o

I will be look at the Holux series as suggested next week as have to to to Bukit Mertajam this weekend..
