This is a highly debatable topic.

Based on personal experience, MTK wins. My Nuvi 260 runs on MTK while the 60csx is on SirfStarIII.

MTK faster time to first fix and satellite holding in CBD areas. Otherwise, I'm happy with either one.
A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.

my suggestion is to wait till SiRF Prima comes to market, it can calculate ephemeris data on its own without plugging to internet (something like instantFix II used in nuvi 7xx), and it support Galileo.

A very arfuable subject: See here: http://www.gpspassion.com/fr/articles.asp?id=175

For myself it only SiRstar III more suit me because it have walking mode, none of the other chipset support walking mode. If just for driving, then there are many new comers will have more sensitivities more satetiles fixed. Search for chipset compared in gpspassion.com.

For sure getting satelite fixed faster does not means accuracy of the chipset. Although I don't own any MTK b4 but from my previous AGPS chipset (HP6515) & sirffIII, AGPS in HP6515 wins interm of satelite fix time BUT..the accuracy of AGPS is nothing close to SirfIII!....U really can see such a fineline & nice tracklogs compare to the faster fixed AGPS chipset especially when you make a turn or going thru a loop... :D

Only those into tracking will know.. :D
