I was having problems earlier with the 10X sloshing around the dashboard.
Maybe accuracy might be affected but it brings me to the correct location.
Just sharing.
Rgds,
I should try this myself. I thought at this position the gpsr will have problems getting satellite reads. I never clip it anywhere but put mine on the front dash right up to the windscreen. To prevent it from slip sliding away, I place it on those anti-skid mat that everyone has. It is usually side by side with my Smart Tag. It is exposed to the sun there but I thought it is designed to be in the sun for a bit.

I also bought the anti slip. After a while, it became an eye sore. Also 10X highly reflective at times.
Sometimes forgot to keep it. If you leave it under the visor and you forget, it's not so obvious. Unless you squat down from outside car, you cannot see it. No more stretching, on/off within reach. Try it to see if it works for you.

In my case I do not put the 10X on the dashboard because my windscreen tinting material seems to be blocking the receiver from receiving satellite signal... Whenever I place the 10X on the dashboard, the signal strength drops dramatically to the stage it says 'Lost Satellite Reception'... :-.

My 10x is placed inside my dashboard compartment which is a top flip cover for putting sunglasses and GPSr (in the middle).

I have solar screen fitted but never have problem with reception.

Haizz....I got all excited after reading this thread as I always put my GPSr on the dash and it can get really hot.....
Anyway after I move it under the visor.....lost signal.... #-o

Anyone have problem with GPSr overheating?

Don't know about overheating but fading and warpage could be long term effects if left under direct sunlight for prolong periods. Seems like there is a difference between Holux and Garmin under the conditions you described.

Maybe next time I make paper house for my GPSr. I think signal can pass thru paper right?
