Tap 12v power source from car fuse box?
Any car guru out there can advise how to tap 12v power source from car fuse box. I need to fix a perm 12v supply to charge the PDA and GPSr, already got the female cigarette adaptor but dare not DIY till I know how to. Got picture better. Do I need to fuse it up just in case?
Alternatively anyone in SG knows of any workshop willing to do that for a small charge ($20-30?).

Hi, Kiteman,
This topic has been posted not long ago but draws no ultimate solution. Like you, I want a permanent 12V point to be installed professionally to charge at least the PDA. The power point should be as close as possible to where the PDA is to be located. In my case, it is best to be fitted right of the steering column.
Normally, there should be few spare fuses for custom used with all cars. A 10A (or even less rating) fuse should be used for our application. The only difficult job for DIY is running the wire neatly.
You can access Malsingmaps forum to see the entire thread:

Good luck!!!

Brother Kiteman
Any car accessory shop in Singapore will do it for a price. You can ask them to connect a female adaptor to the fuse box. You can then plug the original Garmin car adaptor into it.

I already have the female adaptor, just need some steady hand to pull the power line. My hand too shaky...
Will drive to some car ICE shop and see if they willing to do it for a small fee.
