Nuvifone A50

#1 Post by bross » Wed Jan 12, 2011 12:15 pm

I just using this Nuvifone A50 for the past 2 weeks.. See more details here
http://www.garminasus.com/en_US/phones/ ... index.html

Prebuild with Android 2.1, GPS Version V1.38, BT V3.12, 3MP Camera.. memory 4GB and built in with MSM maps..
Basic such as Call and SMS is good.. just to get use to type faster when SMSing.. Internet (no comment-no really like to use Internet Phone).. boleh lah.. but you need to change ur Service Plan lah...

Camera/Video suck.. you have to really hold steady to get a good image..
Video probably make you dizzy after viewing it for those not with steady hand..
Probably there is setting or technique-do share..

GPS-superb.. Accuracy sometimes go down to 2m.. and it's free (think of your Nuvi but plus phone lah) that is A50..

Battery.. hmm..normal usage last one day.. try to adjust the brightness to Auto mode to save more battery.
It's 1150mAH power battery.. Happy with it.. no grudge..

Ah yes.. Get the Car Mounting and Vehicle Power adapter (sold separately) to make your phone to NUVI.. yeah..

Lastly (do contact me for those in Kuching if you want to know more).. very much welcome

Hi, no problem at all as A50 got micro SD card slot you may put as many maps as you want [depending on the card memory size] and choose which map to use by selecting the map thru garmin program [you need to read or google how to do it].

Try this..
Create a folder under SD card with H:\Garmin\Map\mapfile.img (The map can be renamed to 'anyname.img' and not restricted to 'gmapsupp.img')

Bro,

tried your instruction, however A50 can't read the Malsingmaps. there no mymaps icon to select the maps like the garmin 3790 gps, could it be the OS problem? i'm currently using Androit 2.1.

please advice.

After you downloaded MSM, did you un-rar it before putting it in the map folder?
Are you using the latest MSM v5.xx maps?

Hey brothers,

Thanks for assisting those that assist, after much trial and error, finally got it!

I’ve create a MAP folder and dump all the *img files just like my 3790, off the phone and turn it back on again.

Got what I’ve wanted, will try it for my business trip next week and shall update you guys soon.

Thanks,
emave
