You asked how I managed with 2.28 version on Mobile PC. I thought I'd install 2.27, but when I asked for unlock codes to use on Mobile PC, the codes I was given were for 2.28.

The big problem I had was Mapsource refused to install with just the Mobile PC on the machine, saying there was "no Mapsource product!" But I discovered the thread here on how to install Mapsource without having a previous Mapsource product, and managed to install Mapsource on my little HP laptop! I installed the earlier version, 6.13.7, after all the posts here scared me away from the newest version.

In fact, Bro tecrc is supposed to meet me this afternoon to help me install the maps --- he apparently has a simple method of doing so.

However, after I managed to install Mapsource earlier this morning, I was able to unlock and load the 2.28 versions of MySin and Borneo maps and Bro Rotweiler's Cambodia map into Mapsource. I then used Mapsource to combine those three maps into one *.img file.

I then used Bro MoeyHC's batch file to combine M'sia-Cambodia *.img file with the Japan 1:25000 topo map (upupdown) *.img file into a gmapsupp.img file, which I then placed in the MobilePC folder. That folder already contains that wonderful new world base map and the N America map that came with my MobilePC. So now I am able to see Malaysia, Cambodia, Japan and N America on Mobile PC!

Maybe I'll just have some drinks with bro tecrc instead!
You should go get Durians which is now in season with Bro tecrc instead. :hungry:

Yup... and snap some pics on their Sarawak durians and perhaps include your co-ordinates on that recommended shop or hawker stall!!!

Now, why didn't bro Bern think of doing something like that earlier heh??? [-X

Maybe he hates durians :-k & get rashes into "B :fire: rns"....

This is basically a great navigation software to turn my laptop into 17" big screen Nuvi.
WOW on my EeePC 901, I just fire up the Mobile PC with the latest map, it works great. The Audio is loud enough, display on the 8.9" screen and since the EeePC already comes with AntiGlare it looks just great. I am not too sure how it looks at 2pm but at 6pm pretty bright it is very viewable. And with the 5.5 hours battery usage I don't have to worry about power supply.

I am surprise that the FIX was so much faster than my HP 4700 PDA. Unfortunately it is still too big to put on the dashboard. Let C how my touch screen due here next week fair before I look at a mounting RAM.

If you have purchased the software, the instruction is in the DVD.

If you are trying to crack the software, there's no place for pirate here.

Which one is better when comparing the sensitivity & accuracy between the GPS 20x & Vista HCx?
