E9 BEE Besraya Expressway Extension Mapped

#1 Post by adilothman » Wed Apr 16, 2014 11:36 am

Coming soon in the next map release.

What users can expect :

1. Traffic from KL (Jalan Istana) can get to MRR2 in double quick time - you can land directly on MRR2 just before Tesco or you can get home to Pandan Utama. Pandan Utama won't ring many people's bells but the exit is only some 1.8km to Jalan Ampang / Spectrum / Taman Kosas. If you live in those area, you now have an alternative instead and skip the congested Jalan Ampang, AKLEH jams.

2. There is a direct exit landing near Taman Maluri - so you can now give Jalan Peel, Jalan Pudu, Kampung Pandan Roundabout a miss if you come from Jalan Istana or BESRAYA.

3. There are ramps connecting to BESRAYA near Tai Thung school.

Speed limit is 60km/h pretty much of the way.

My only worry is the extension that joins Jalan Istana. It is already congested as hell in the morning so if you add Cheras / Ampang traffic to the mix .. so ..

Tracked it again in peak hour yesterday evening. Pretty sad. The Zoo Exit ramp lands traffic smack into a 5 lane bottleneck to join MRR2 - all squeezing into one miserable lane. And this on a day when 90% of drivers are still unaware of this new extension. Add 3 months with more users and I forecast that the jam will tail back well onto the elevated sections. 7 lanes bottleneck by then I bet!
