you have to save the other map into an external SD card in order to have both maps loaded.

What system are you using? I was using GMXT on Dopod 818pro. Beside the basemap Garmin system only read one gmapsupp.img. Three way to do it:
1) rename the Thailand map to Thai_gmapsupp.img and SG/MY to msm_gmapsupp.img. When you are in Thailand then you rename Thai_gmapsupp.img to gmapsupp.img then you will be able to route to any POI or serch for POI for Thailane.
2) Used the mapsource installer map. Used mapsouce to combine Thailand and MSM map, by selecting all the maps tiles and used mapsource send to your device. Once completed in your device will have one Gmapsupp.img which cover the whole area from Singapore to The whole Thailand.
3) If your device can't rename the map set. Then you have to keep different card for each country.
Hope my explaination will help you!

Use M3 to convert .img to mapsource format. In order to do that, you need to rename the .img file to 8 digit number format.

eg Thailand.img to 12345678.img.

U then use M3 to convert. Give it a try and let us know the outcome

Came across this on another forum:

Garmin Mobile XT(PPC) able to open 4 maps together

Garmin Mobile XT(PPC) able to open 4 maps together.

you must set your map name follow these name:
Gmapbmap.img -->base map.
Gmapsupp.img -->your map.
Gmapsup2.img -->another map.
Gmapprom.img -->another map.

GMXT will read into these file and show on screen.

All your maps may save as "\MiniSD Card\Garmin\".

Nice info... :thumbsup:

That means if we have 3 set of gmapsupp.img file, we just manually renamed it to that 3 file name (gmapsupp, gmapsup2 and gmapprom)? :-k

If I'm not mistaken gmapprom must reside in \Garmin folder in Main Menory.
I take everything in moderation, including moderation.

Dear Bro/Sis,

I just went thru' to extract the RoadName from the gmapsupp2.14 for MalSin and combine it with other maps (Thai, China Hong Kong...) and used Sendmap20 to create a GMAPSUPP.img for my SD Card. It works well. Any xxxxxxxx.img files can be converted to .exe or direct installation into Mapsource.

To extract individual .img files from gmapsupp.img you can use sendmap20.exe. This is the procedure I use:-

- Open Sendmap20.exe and Windows Explore (WE).
- In WE open the folder gmapsupp.img is stored
- Click on sendmap20 to place the menu over WE
- Drag the gmapsupp.img (point mouse over gmapsupp.img, left click and hold & drag) into the file window of sendmap20.
- All the img file from gmapsupp.img is now displayed in this window
- Delete (remove) the map file (.img files) you don't want leaving the rest (what you want) in the window
- Click on Create GMAPSUPP to generate a new gmapsupp.img that you need to rename to reflect its content (this is to let you know what is inside this file... keeping the extention as .img)
- To create an install file (.exe) click on Create EXE.

If you have no need to store individual file content you can shortcut the process by draging all the .img files into sendmap20 and deleting the unwanted files. It is best to drag in one file at a time and delete before importing more .img fille. Another point to remember is to label the maps you are importing. To do this Change the REGION name to indicate the Maps you are importing. With region naming you can select which maps to use in your GPS.

Hope this helps... and happy GPSing.... Cheers.

P/s :- Please check the procedure above and let us know if it works for you. Thank You.

Multiple Mapsets unable to perform accurate spell search?

#10 Post by wahladino » Mon Dec 10, 2007 10:03 am

Hi,
Is it advisable to patch multiple mapsets into one mapset ? reason i ask notice that the spell search not able to locate some stree even when i spell them in full.

For example,
I have patch Malsing and RT( Thailand and Laos) maps togeher, when i perform a search on Permas 15 J. I can't locate it.
However when i use a standalone Malsin map i'm able to locate the street. i'm using a nuvi 200w
