Using my Nuvi as an example, here is what I have in internal memory:brandon666 wrote:hi,
I have a localised nuvi 50LM. Currently all maps/software are stored in the device's internal memory. How do i move them to the external SD?
Just copy and paste?
Thanks in advance.
CN SGM NT2011.20 ALL = gmapprom.img
MSM NT2012.10 = gmapprom1.img
MFM 2012.10 = gmapsupp.img
Before you begin anything elaborate, BACKUP EVERYTHING in your Nuvi to your PC/Lappy and this includes HIDDEN files. Be SAFE not SORRY
Create two folders in your SD card, namely \Garmin and \Map
Inside \Map, create a \JCV subfolder
The 3 preloaded maps have working JCV feature.
Copy all files having inside the .\System\JCV folder into the \Map\JCV subfolder
Take note that in SD card\Garmin folder, the Nuvi will only recognize one and only one 1 map and it must be named gmapsupp.img. You have to make a decision on which of the 3 maps you now have in Main Memory \system to put in this sub-folder because JCV will work work only in this sub-folder. After moving one of the file into the SD card\Garmin sub-folder, rename the file to gmapsupp.img.
For the others, you can store them in the SD Card\Map sub-folder. The weekly MSM NT map released here must be rename from gmapsupp.img to perhaps MSMXXXXX.img. This directory does not have a limit on the number of maps stored here but you have to give each map a unique.img name e.g. MSM July Week1.img
