MSM deserves the Noble Prize for FREE & Humble sharing of its research ...thanks to ALL involved and thats something, no hackers, crackers or Corporate Cartel can take awy from...!!! :good:

in case there are people who still do not understand how hackers think...
here's an amature article written by someone... although it's games related, it is still the same principle.
http://www.ring3circus.com/gameprogramm ... e-hackers/

one note to cruiser, my only disagreement with MSM is that MSM does not follow the same path as linux. Linux (or any GPL LGPL software for that matter) is free to download and use w/o any form of intentional hindrance, however, any violations of the GPL is dealt with the legal way.

So with the differing definitions of 'FREE' between MSM and linux, it's not the same thing.

I feel that contributions should be whole-hearted and voluntary... out of a desire to see a better quality map and this is in line with the spirit of this site.

Perhaps we should consider moving back to Unlocked maps as I'm sure there are plenty of people out there (myself included) who still wish to contribute tracks and POIs to Malsingmap regardless of whether other people are leeching off our work. This will allow all parties, founders, moderators, contributors, etc. to focus on our main hobby... that is GPS Mapping.

All I'm saying is don't let the actions of leechers and crackers ruin the spirit of why we all got together to create this massive and worderful piece of work.

Finally someone has actually went through the entire thought process. Kudos!

I'm pretty sure there is an initial objective when this group started, it's quite obvious most have lost sight of that goal with such a knee-jerk reaction.

I'm pretty confident MSM won't close down at least for next 2 years, but free-loaders, crackers won't disappear either. Notwithstanding loss of interest in MSM of course.

Unless you are one of our founders, you have no qualification to guess our initial objectives. Funny way you have for disagreeing with our philosophy - lurking all these while and blasting out when things seem not right for us.

I have had enough of your opinions. Feel free to start you linux style mapping movement or continue to lurk. Please don't post at this thread anymore. Thanks.

No q'n on that differing perception however, I was actually "hinting" at the potential "t-i-c" approach for an option... which can be hailed as the breakthrough... but at whose willing expense it shall be???

If you feel like continuing this discussion, please do it at the GPS general chat or kopitiam thread. Thanks

Sorry guys, the bad news of the existence of illegimate keygens for our maps is made worse for me wrongly implicating our member, little_frog, as one of the keygen authors.

I wrote this thread mainly to attract the response of the people responsible for writing the keygen. I have not intended our members to chip in before the people responsible have responded. Now that the person I wrongly accused have cleared the matter, and the real culprit is unlikely to give a damn, I will close this thread.

Regarding the status of our map release, I can only hint:
- Does shrinking away from advesity seems like a typical of Malsingmaps response? :nutz:
- Why am I up at 4.30am updating tracks? :nutz:

For every member who has spoken up in support of Malsingmaps, thank you for motivating our mappers (we are human, we need a pat on the back once in a while  ). I am sure your words were also effective in attracting the attention of the keygen-ers to understand our cause.

For the one or two of our lurking detractors, please wait for the next "crisis" okay? :nehneh:
