GPS: Garmin Nuvi 260
Hey there,

I'd just purchased a Garmin 260 from the states. Apparently it doesn;t show the POIs on the map as we drive along. The POI is only accessible from the POI tab which is staggered in a list based on the approaching distance. This is really a disadvantage for Garmin compared to TomTom or Navigon 2100 that I've seen.

Is there anyway we can set or do a software upgrade from Garmin to enable the POIs to be displayed?

Anyone? Thanks

Sorry but the Nuvi 200 seriesare blind as a bat unless you have the Taiwanese or other Asian versions.

My 200W has the same predicament like yours but I just live with it. Garmin USA says it is normal.........

It's only an inconvenience as the GPS will still be able to lead you to wherever you want to go.

Cheers

This is how Garmin differentiate their entry level from the high end models. The features available are not the same. If not there is no point in buying the 700 or the 800 series. There are many other features that the high end models have that the low models don't have. Some of the features are different at hardware level. Some are specially tweaked in the firmware.

Same goes to my n200, it doesn't fully display POI while navigating. Just live with it. Anyway still lead me to the destination.

Cheers!

You could never see POIs or only during navigation? When not navigating, try zooming in. If your Map Detail is set to Most, POIs should be visible at some close zoom levels. But during navigation, the POIs would not be visible as Nuvi will have its zoom settings at different points. POIs will not be visible then. I am talking 650 model here.

I second bro banban. unlike our handheld series, GMXT or Que, you cannot set a fixed zoom level in Nuvis. POI will not be visible when you are above certain zoom level (above 120m)
