Can you explain in details what bug is that? You mean the setting of 1 sec log in the device? So set it using its software or downloaded from the website?

Before start You need to update M241 firmware to v1.11.

2) Download and install M-241 Firmware V1.11 update package Eng

3) Install HoluxLoggerUtility.exe & Launch HoluxLoggerUtility.exe

4)

5) Up load your track in Kml format ( don't use the convert function in pc it got bug)

6) Use NMEA2KMZ145 to convert kml to GPX files

7) Use g7towin to convert GPX to GDB files for view in mapsource

Note if you using m241 setting to set the 1 sec log, after you upload to pc it will become 5 sec these is the bug in M241
please use the program in the CD to install the PC software as the latest PC software also got bug, it will show double track in you GPX files.

Care to give the link to download the NMEA2KMZ145 & g7towin software?

Wah... so many bugs 1? Perhaps it is the rainy season during the software development O:)

Thanks bro for the tips... this device seems to track pretty well following the GE routes.

What is the quality of tracking using holux m241 compared to expensive GPSr like garmin vista and 60csx? Is it the same? Can the kml .gpx format be converted to .gdb? tq

1) GPS track quality depend on the signal that M241 is receive, speed of your car and your tracking line.
It is acceptable by mapper here as long as you get the 1sec log. My track using m241 Click here

2) Yes kml & gpx can be convert to gdb files ( Brother chlesoh your request link )
just use NMEA to KMZ convert kml to gpx click here
and use G7towin to convert gpx to gdb click here

:tq: bro tlchuan! I manage to convert them to the gdb file. How to modify the track in order to smooth out a linear line? It seems there are many settings in the g7toWin software which can be very useful. If I wanna cut out only a stretch of a track, I just need to save the relevant waypoints in the g7toWin table, ie delete the rest of the waypoints in the table?

You are right about the bugs in the software. I think even software comes with the Tool CD is not compactible with Windows (mine is XP Pro SP2). I experienced a mishap where it showed the files were 100% downloaded but in fact it wasn't. Though I deleted the tracks in the device, but luckily it was only a test track.

However, it's still a great piece of device. Just that it gets quite "uneasy" and sensitive when it stops at the same place for too long. Too many floating points.

tlchuan,
Care to share some more experiences (pros & cons) with the device?

I tried using its software converter for gpx, and GE can show single track with blue flags number-markings. When I opened it with G7toWin, then it says it consists of double waypoints.

My device came with V1.11 V2 - guess that's the latest version. Apparently, when it was 1st set to 1s-log using the device, it did record in 1s interval. However, at times, it has a rare 2s-log for a couple of waypoints in a track. Could it be due to reception sensitivity? I found that it can easily go back to "GPS Searching" if I just tilted it slightly despite under a clear, unobstructive sky.

Brother if you want to set 1 sec log, set it using the Holux Logger utility my software version is 1.1.0.46. you can't get the 1 sec log even you can set it in your M241, this is a bug in the V1.11 firmware. if you use the Holux converter to convert GPX files you will get double waypoint you can use the NMEA to KMZ to convert to GPX than use G7towin to convert to gdb files.

overall the M241 is Good, if you want to get a better tract log, drive slow around 20 to 30 kmph to get a nice and steady waypoint. I like the LCD display especially it display a speed when we drive around.
