GPSr that can't use MSM [Tom2, Magellan, iGO, WinCE etc]

#1 Post by acupofmilo » Thu Jan 17, 2008 12:22 am

I am compiling (merging) some of the topics/posts of Members
who bought GPSr that (according to Seniors here) can't use
our Maps - For general reference. Bartmp8

Hi there gang,

Im a Malaysian, currently residing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and i recently purchased (sort of purely on whims and fancies) a GPS device which is manufactured in China, but which runs iGO maps off an SD card. It also plays MP3's, and i can watch videos/movies saved onto the SD card.

Now, it comes preloaded with the iGO maps of the entire United Arab Emirates on the SD card, however since i travel frequently to the 'motherland', id like to load some Malaysian/Singaporean maps onto it.

Can anybody point me to the right direction as to how i should do this/what maps i should use?

Id greatly appreciate the help :D

Regards,

Imran K.

I dont think you can find IGO maps in this forum, but you can goggle the net for that...keywords "MALAYSIA IGO MIO MAP" will fulfill your need in finding the maps

Acupofmilo, your device is probably a PND (Personal Navigation Device) powered by Windows CE with iGo navigation software built-in, hence, installing other navigation software is not possible and only iGo maps are compatible with the unit.

Yes, your unit accepts FBL iGo map files, only use that format in the folder, it won't recognize any other formats.

yep..just simply paste the map inside map folder and igo will automatically read the map. as far as i know update malaysian map is 2007, about 8.1mb, 2006 version is about 6mb.

ahh...thanks for the clarification dvpro.

Any ideas where i could download these .fbl maps?

@karkeys,
hmm...it seems all ive downloaded is "download.php" files. Im guessing something went wrong somewhere... :-k

*edit* -> ok...it seems ive made a rather stupid error to do with my 'Download Manager'. The actual 15mb file is downloading now. I shall try again once its downloaded.

well..sometimes most download manager just treat the file as .php or .htm. Therefore I just manually download using direct browser download :ko:

Acupofmilo, unfortunately you won't find any other than Garmin and Mapking maps here.
