Re: Need urgent help to locate Jalan TS 6/4

General rule of thumb - to search for apartment complex or office building, use search poi - spell name - without going into subcategories. Nuvi's have subcategories. Handhelds like Oregon do not. Its all dependent on unit.

But if you are looking for shopping complexes, then better to refine your search to search poi - shopping. For road search - search under Address.

If you want to search for a Taman - use Cities category.

Sometimes you need a few trial and error in spelling the POI - esp POIs with long names.

Dear Bro mnd_43 & alvin4c

Thank you for your valued information. After a few hours reviewing from page 35 in a reverse order, I accidentally found and read this topic.

I am now a happy user once I've uncheck the
city navigator singapore/malaysia NT v4.03, sgp_mys_nt_ta200809_jcv
and found a bit different map setting. I guess you're right when you say "Maybe your both maps are selected n CN SingMal will overide MSM. Try un select the
CN SingMal ( > outdated than MSM ) n do Poi spell search.
"

Thanks again. :tq:

Addresses search

#175 Post by rku140 » Mon Jun 22, 2009 6:01 pm

Hi all,

I am new to garmin GPS systems, Currently I am using Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 3rd Edition, Ver. 5.00.50 and the malsing maps is ver 3.04. the issue I am having is that when I use to search for places using the addresses, it automatically goes to Sarawak and not Peninsula. Eventhough I have tried to set to Malaysia and spell city is only pointed to Sarawak, pls adv what setting to do.

Rgds,
ab

I guess MSM Borneo (gmapsupp.img) is the only active map in your Gmxt .
Try combining both maps using mapsource or have MSM MSYG active ... .
What img files name of your maps ?
FYI gmxt only allowed gmapsupp n gmapsup2 as maps file name beside gmapbmap n gmapoem !.

can u see the MYSG maps ?

Try rename your MSM MYSG img files to gmapsup2.img .

Search destination by Postcode? Can update add? (Garmin MXT)

#180 Post by ch15 » Thu Jun 25, 2009 12:15 pm

Hi All,
I have been using TomTom in the UK, which allows me to search for my destination using house number and postcode.
I am now using Garmin Mobile XT version 4.20.50wp on my HTC Diamond (WM 6.1), I find it difficult to search a location from the address provided. Difficult as in, some destination I intended to go are not in the database.

Can we download some kind of update/patch from malsingmaps.com in order to expand the address database? or, is there such thing as postcode data file?

BEst regards
