you need to convert .gpi files to .gpx first in order to open in mapsource.

However when you convert the speed trap files, some important information is left out and that is the distance settings. This is only for those who have the alert function. As for Que, i think the distance setting lost will not be an issue.

Loading POI in .gpi extension

#8 Post by siron » Sat Jan 19, 2008 1:30 pm

Hi guys,

I have currently files in my GPS unit H:/Garmin/POI

They are

speedtrap.gpi
erpgantries.gpi

I want to add more POI I've downloaded, like the (Samstation.gpi) how do I do that correctly? I tried using POI loader, but it says that no CSV. files found. Simply copy into the folder? If that is so. I will not be able to search for it right? Could I like combine it into the maps?

Thank you.

Believe or not, you just copy and paste into your POI Folder. To search Nuvi, go to:

Where to/Extra/Custom POIs then choose what you want

How to make custom POIs show permanently on the map?

#10 Post by lost_on_earth » Sat Feb 02, 2008 12:09 am

Hi seniors,

I have created some Australian custom POIs and used POI Loader to upload to my HCx. Is there a way to make them show on my HCx?

I browsed the wiki but can't find anything to make it permanently shown. (pardon me if I didn't look further. )

A million thanks in advance. :)
