Waypoint Symbols

#351 Post by grahamstone » Mon Jun 14, 2010 4:04 am

I am a newbie.
I just recently ugraded my mapsource software and lost many of my original wapoint symbols.
The new set are different and more cartoon like. I would prefer the original set or would like to know how to get a bigger selection at least.
Thanks for any help

You can set your preference at "Edit > Preferences > Display tab > Symbol Size".

I'm afraid you have to do that manually, below is the excerpt from Mapsource's help file:
Using Customized Waypoint Symbols

You can add customized symbols for your waypoints. MapSource includes 8 default custom waypoint symbols located on your computer in "My Documents\My Garmin\Custom Waypoint Symbols." You can open these symbols with a graphic editor and use them as templates for creating your own symbols.

You can add up to 64 custom waypoint symbols. These symbols must be in .bmp format and must be named numerically from "000.bmp" to "063.bmp." Custom waypoint symbols can be 16 x 16 pixels (small) or 24 x 24 pixels (large) and up to 32-bit color.

Good evening Bro Blackhawk_505,

The answer you want is found HERE.

To be fair to all the members who have painstakingly written up guides to help people like you, it is only fair that since you are able to navigate to the Newbie Lounge to make this post, you could at least make some effort to look for the answer yourself instead of expecting to be spoonfed. The answer is staring at you at the Newbie Lounge which is the very first item at the top - Wiki: Newbie Pitstop.

I'm running 6.13.7 on Windows 7 64 bits with no problem and later updated it to 6.16.1. I install mine just like I install it for my XP pc. Please check your installation... cheers!
