Re: MapSource 6.14.1 and unlocking and combing maps for 2 GPSRs

#31 Post by bluey » Wed Oct 22, 2008 1:36 am

sorry to ask ...
but after I upgrade to Vista with the lastest mapsource, I been pulling my hair on how to input the unlock keys to mapsource.
Does anyone have the older version that could work with the unlock wizard.

Thanks. ](*,)

Bro bluey,
In normal circumstances, when you run mapsource, it will be default check for map installed for unlock codes. If map is not unlock, it will automatically prompt user to enter the 25 alpha-numeric character code )

To manually unlock maps in mapsource,

1. Run Mapsource
2. On the pull down list on top of screen, click on UTILITIES -> UNLOCK MAPS
3. This will start the UNLOCK MAP WIZARD ... just follow instructions.

That's it

But do we have the manual option to unlock in MapSource 6.14.1. I only see the online unlock map thru' garmin website. Did I miss out something?

I'm not sure what you mean "Mapset Installer", I have the Map source from CD from Garmin, and where I can get the Mapset Installer?

Frankly, I'm very new to this!

Hehe, the Mapsource installer is the mapset installer cos it installs mapsets
for you to view and install to your GPSr.

Hi shmoi,

deani77 refer to map installer. You can download free copy from below link:
viewtopic.php?f=26&t=23

Then you double click install it. Once finish installing. You can see your map in Mapsource.

Actually they are refering to Garmin's Official MY/SG installer. Please read
the few preceding posts and you'll understand - Bartmp8

Understand. Bro Bartmp8. Thanks for pointing out.

I have Mapsource 6.13.7 installed and running well since August, but I now realised it's actually not running so well when I got the unlock codes for MSM G V2.30. Haha.

Each time I try to unlock the map or hit Ctrl+U, I get a message "Unable to start the UnlockWizard. Please reinstall this program and try again."

I can generate the gmapsup via the MSM installer and copy it directly for use in the gpsr, but I can't load the detail map onto Mapsource due to this UnlockWizard problem.

I have used the Mapsource CD to reinstall it after uninstalling; didn't work. Reinstalled from CD after I've removed all Garmin products using regedit; no help too. Finally, I've reinstalled after I've removed "Mapsource" and "Garmin Trip and Waypoint Manager v5" using CCleaner. Yet, I'm unable to get the UnlockWizard to work.

Have I missed a step? Macuser here (really confused with the c/ and D/ drive naming and terminologies), trying to get this to work on a Pentium III

Thanks.

Dear Chee Loong & deani77,

I had repeatedly re-installed the Mapsource many time, but I still fail to trasnfer my map from my 60csx, and the GM-MySin.exe also execute many time too, but still can not get the map transfer from my 60csx.
