As I used to get much better speed when I had the WM map in the device and EM in the SD card, I've reverted to this instead of joining both the maps into one.
No problem for me. I even add my own personal map

I read the threads above but I am still between confused and concerned!!
.
I want to combine the gmapsup (unlocked) available on this site with a free trial map from Rothweiler (Sumkumvit)

first question: When I download the trial map, I have three *.img files.
sukumhvit.img
sukumhvit_mdr.img
010109.img

Do i need to store all three?
Second question, if I use patchimg (version 1.1.0 build 25) to combine those two maps into one (to transfer on the D card of a NUvi 200), do I loose any data from Gmappsupp form Malsing?
Finally, do I still need to include a blank.img file in the second position?

Thanks!

Answer 1: Just use 010109.img + GMAPSUPP.IMG in PatchIMG.

Answer 2: No, GMAPSUPP.IMG will remain as it is.

Answer 3: Latest version of PatchIMG (1.10 Build 25/SendMap20 rev 4) doesn't need blank maps anymore.

You're welcome, actually I was just going to brush my teeth, when I thought I should have a look at the forum first.

Bro jgl51,

Were you referring to the Sendmap procedure? Do let us know what is not clear and I'll re-write it. Thanks for your feedback....cheers!

The instructions are fine and easy to understand.
But then you have several types of users, those who plunge and those who *try* to think. Am part of the last group!!

Will give feedback early April after I have had a chance to use my new gadget in KL.

Thanks for your efforts.

Jacques

All, This Instruction to join 2 maps will result in the lost of Address Search function. I'm still trying to see what is wrong. Anyone having a solution please let us know. Thanks...cheers!

Solution: Use Gmaptool: viewtopic.php?p=68535#p68535
antyong wrote:Guys, just a reminder that address search capability will be lost when you use sendmap at any time. Either use multiple files (one gmapsupp.img for GM-Mysin, gmapsup2.img for other maps) or use gmaptool to combine the maps.

Also, address search work only if you create your gmapsupp.img using the installer (unless you are familiar enough with the component files and maps to combined them using gmaptool yourself)

The Borneo map does not support address search and will remain so until the Sarawak map got its city indexing cleaned.

Thanks Bro dvpro,

I'll try it out. Will Gmaptool allows us to name the maps separately like what we did in Sendmap20? Hope this can be done....cheers!
