But you can do another check here. Select "Singapore/Malaysia", then "'Malsingmaps Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2009.5 (2009-06)". There a box to enter your serial number of your GPS device which can be found on the bottom of your unit.
What does it mean not local set? i tried input my serial number and it said incorrect serial number, guess it is AP set? Any disadvantage on AP set apart from warranty? Many thanks.

Localized set are those pre-loaded with local maps by Garmin. Your set looks like for sale in Thailand.

For nuvi 205W, there isn't much disadvantages on AP set.

You don't have the "City Navigator Singapore/Malaysia NT v4.0X" map. It's ok, cos the map can't really make it in Malaysia.
You don't have the display icon for Malsing map. Well, it's for show only.

download maps to SD card

#135 Post by lawrenceooi » Sat Jul 11, 2009 6:46 pm

Hi All,

I’ve recently bought garmin 265wt fom US and it cam preloaded with the US maps.
How can I download free malsings maps into sd card?

I’ve refer to the web page below but the steps ask me to download directly to my unit.
viewtopic.php?p=153923#p153923

If I do so, would my us maps will be missing?

Thanks.

The file name of your US map should be "gmapprom.img". Currently we are using "gmapprom1.img" for MSM NT 2009.5. It should not replace your US map.

If you would like to have MSM in your SD card instead, just rename the 2 files from "gmapprom1" to "gmapsupp". Place them into Garmin folder.

i have download the 2 file [gmapprom1unl.zip [149 Bytes], gmapprom1_2009.5.zip [13.36 MiB]].

i have change the as you have mention to file gmapsupp.img, gmapsupp.uml

i also save in the SD card under garmin
ie: G:\\Garmin\ gmapsupp.img, gmapsupp.uml

then i place into the unit and turn on the power.
later the units display can't unlock maps?

Your unlock code file should be "gmapsupp.unl" and not ".uml".

Could you have used your unit's serial no. instead of the ID no. to request for the unlock codes? This could be one of the possible reasons why your unit couldn't display the map.
