You have to look for the voice file first. Try updating your 765 and see if it gives you the option
to download Thai from garmin. Alternatively, see if anyone has the voice file for 765.

Hi,
Zues32's English British file is actually speaking in Malay.. @@;;;

Anyone can advise how I can get English_British(not TTS as I don't like the strange pronunciation of some street names) into Garmin Nuvi 255W?

I've tried to use the copy from nuvi 205, but it's not compatible.
Try to use webupdater to get the latest copy also have issue. It calculate in ft and miles not in meter or km. :ko:

Can anyone help?? :prayer:
Thanks!!!

Regarding the voice speaking about ft and miles instead of metre or km, it has got nothing to do with the voice. I believe you have to change your setting to "Kilometres". Go to > Tools > System > Units to set it. Thanks.

Thanks, But the units is set to kilometers all the time. If i choose British English-Daniel (TTS) or any other English, they will tell me in Meters and KM. It also didn't tell you what road to turn to. Just "Turn left, then turn right"

Non TTS voice will not read out name of road. It only tells you directions and when to turn .. :-'

Dear SilverBeauty,

it's ok to have no road name reading out loud. The main issue falls on the units. how come it's in ft/miles while i have already set the units to kilometers. and also the other language voice will say out the right one except this.

The reason is because it's using an incompatible voice file.

Is there a better GPS voice?

#10 Post by leewei » Tue Dec 28, 2010 6:55 pm

Good day!

I am a new member here after purchasing a garmin nuvi 1300 recently, i just installed a malaysia and singapore map after learning it in this forum. However I have encountered a problem, the pronunciation is really bad! Couldn't really get what my two girlfriend Emily and Karen were talking on the GPS unless I looked at it.

Is there any alternatives to this?
