Download our map from this link http://www.malsingmaps.com/forums/viewt ... 39#p186439

Unzip and copy the map file gmapsupp.img into an SD card/garmin directory. Put the SD card into your 265W.

Go to MainMenu - Tools - System - Map - Mapinfo and deselect the USA/Canada map ( Untic) and select the MSM map ( tic )
Hi, I too have a Nuvi 265W from US. Followed the steps shown here and copied gmapsupp v512 into the "Garmin" folder in my GPS. Unclicked US map and chose SG map. However, the SG map still does not appear.

Can help? Thanks much!

You need to go out in the open area to get satellite signals first. :-'

Newbie trying to learn using Garmin Nuvi 1390

#383 Post by ongkalabutu » Fri Apr 01, 2011 3:47 pm

Hi everyone,

I am a total newbie with GPS. Bought my 1st GPS (Garmin Nuvi 1390) from NZ recently, and I have been trying to figure out how to (1) install a recent Malaysia map, (2) choose the right map and software for this GPS model, and (3) not mess up the GPS whilst achieving the first two goals

I know that this is going to be a pain in the ass, but can someone guide me to get the GPS useful in Malaysia?

Thanks in advance.

I am wondering whether the forum moderator mind updating an Option C on the http://www.malsingmaps.com/forums/viewt ... 70&t=16332 thread so that other people who had problems initially can try this option.

:tq: Finally it's working very well. Next will be to try it in Malaysia.

Thanks for the efforts by the mappers

Yes boss mine is a localized set bought online. Its not an AECO set though.

When I click on registering the set, the registering form are for US address not asian. Is that ok and I hope if would not update my firmware to US version.

How can you be sure?

The registration process requires your GPS to be connected for the purpose of reading the GPSID and serial number. It will not update your firmware unless you choose to do so. Just fill out whatever is relevant in the form.
Lean not on your own understanding

I have my concern too Jason, could be a "modified" set to local. I can download and update maps and get the unlock codes.

Ok thanks, will do that.
