ace, you are great. The problem lies with SD card. The files have to be stored in SD card in order for it to work instead of GPS internal memory.

Hi, I'm a newbie. I have a Garmin Nuvi 1300, purchased in Oct 2009, in Singapore. I am looking for map download for my upcoming hike in Penang, with the hike trail waypoints marked on the map, from Chin Farm (in Batu Ferringhi) to Batu Ferringhi Dam to Bukit Laksamana (also known as Laksamana Hill, or Eagle Point).
I understand that this trail is available in MSM.
How do I go about doing the download to my PC, & loading it onto my Garmin Nuvi 1300 GPS unit?

Download from HERE and unzip then place the resultant gmapsupp.img file in an SD card. You can create either a \Garmin folder in the SD card and place the gmapsupp.img file in the folder with the filename unchanged or create a \Map folder and place the gmapsupp.img file in the folder where you have the option to rename the file to anything you wish as long as the extension remains .img e.g. MSM NT v529.img or koksoon.img or leave it as gmapsupp.img if you do not intend to store another map.

Remember you have to use an SD card as I would not recommend any other way.

Please note that your battery of your Nuvi may not last the distance of the hike.

Successfully loaded MSM into my nuvi1390, maps loaded correctly and I can search for MY addresses. Cool!

I am not yet back to MY to test it out though, looking forward to it when I go back soon. Not sure how the voice would turn out, does anyone experience this and comment how it goes? Do I have to get additional voice file (if it exists)?

You can test out the GPS in simulation mode. Manually position your location to any place in Malaysia and navigate to another POI.

I have a old nuvi 710 and has been laying around for quite some time.

Upon checking there is it is loaded with MSM Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2010.40.

How can i go around updating this map to the newer version which is MalSingMaps (MSM) Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2011.10 (2011-Q1).

Been trying it with garmin and MSM website but still lost and unable to update.

Appreciate if seniors here could guide me. Thank you...

but before update, please do backup on your gps please...

i did but it says there is no update for me 710...

where did you get your gps from? local?

if not you can use another version which is found here...
