Re: Help needed to update Singapore Map & to buy Australian

Hey Bro Redstorm,
My impression is that the JCV will be useless to me cos my Nuvi 205 does not support that.
In any case, what I had before was working OK except that the directions to Sentosa Cove was wrong.
However I have taken your advise and done as follows:

In the Garmin Folder, I created 2 sub-folders:
POI Sub-folder (there are 13 GPI and RAR files inside)
& JCV sub-folder (there is 1 file product.JCV 12'449 KB)

And then there is also the gmapsupp.img file (size 59'152 KB)
This is dated 1/12/2013

So now there is no gmapsupp 2008 file anymore.

I have opened it and the map looks OK but I need to test it out to see if it will show me the right directions in Sentosa Cove.

Many thanks for your suggestions.

Oops... sorry, I have forgotten about the 205 being from the pre-JCV era. So, you can delete the POI sub folder since your device does not support this feature. When you said about showing the right directions to Sentosa Cove, meaning different map showing different route taken to go there or ended up in a wrong place?

I am leaving the POI in there cos I thought there is a POI function in my 205? No?
Usually I will click the "Points of Interest", then "Spell Name" and then the street name, when I am setting my destination.

OK, with the old 2008 map, the direction to Sentosa Cove was correct.
Then with this new installation, after the toll booth, it tells me to turn right instead of left.
That is a major problem.
Then it goes silent until about 400m and it then starts to give me correct directions but the end map is still wrong.

But let me try again - I doubt there will be improvement but I shall stay positive. :)

Gentleman, I am pleased to report that my maps appear to be working well now. Thanks to all.
Now I can't wait for the new map updates to include the new Marina Coastal Expressway.
Happy Holidays and Season's Greetings to all of you here.
