Tibo maps are from Teleatlas. You can get map updates from their distributor Elecoms in Singapore. http://www.elecom.com.sg

uptempo8 wrote:Hi everyone... I'm new to the GPS scene, and wondering if a portable unit purchased in the United States will work here in Singapore? It seems as though Garmin is the brand of choice here, given the Malsing map compatibility, etc... just wondering if there is any reason why a unit bought in the States wouldn't work? If no problem, can you offer any suggestions on specific Garmin models given the conditions here in Singapore?

Thanks!
I would suggest Garmin Nuvi 200. Reasonable price and it even can "track" provided if you use version 3.4 I myself have one bought from US. It works great but I have not try to do "tracking" yet. :P

Hi Yusoff. I second Jaguar's recommendation. If you want to use our free maps then you can get a system that is able to support Garmin and/or Mapking(limited to some version) maps. Which ever platform that you choose and comfortable with as long as it can support Garmin map, you can get free maps from here with simple contribution.

I would suggest you to take your time. Do some readup and then decide later. If you can meet up with some members near your area and see their setup, that would be good .

Kenwood DNX8120.. can it be used here with malsingmaps?

#49 Post by countdokoo » Thu May 15, 2008 1:32 am

Hi all!

I'm thinking of importing a Kenwood DNX8120 in car navigation system from the USA to use in SG...
However, I am not very sure of whether it will be fit for use here. I understand many people have had positive results bringing over
the DNX7100 and 7200 for use locally but what about the 8120?

Below are some tech specs of the DNX8220BT (same as DNX8120 but UK model)
