Food Trip Melaka!

#1 Post by civic98 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 11:04 pm

This time around my destination, MELAKA! Didn't have much time, so here are some of the food I had..

Aunty Lee's Nyonya Food, authentic nyonya food prepared the traditional ways. Ingredients are all hand prepared fresh daily by Aunty Lee herself! And she's 70+ years old! While her husband the main cook is 80+ years old!

The place is packed most days, closed on Tuesdays. Weekends don't expect to find any seats, while some days are all queued up with tour buses. And yet only two of them cooks!

It's a pity though there's no one to pass on the tradition to.. There are located here N02 11.205 E102 16.423

Cendol and at the back the man himself!

:good: As always, nice mouth-watering photos from you bro, but I think the name should read as Ayam Limau Purut (Limau Purut = Kaffir Lime).
I take everything in moderation, including moderation.

OOooo.. My mistake.. Hehe.. Anyway more to come, need time to edit.. Here's another..

The infamous "longkang side" cockles, clams, snails, squids... N02 11.991 E102 15.100

The attraction here is the "feel" and the combination sauce of prawn paste, chili, lime juice, dark sauce, peanuts..

Thanks for sharing, would appreciate if you could provide the GPS coordinates for the pig brain soup and the satay place, thinking of doing a day trip to Melaka in the next 1 month or so.

Thanks for the quick response, it must have been more than 10 years since I tried pig brain soup, not sure if it will taste the same (like the good old days), wifey saw the picture and refuse to go anywhere near it. hahaha....

I have been eating at the same chicken rice, Bak Kut Tei, Nyonya stalls in Melaka for too long. It would be nice to explore other eateries, good excuses to visit Melaka again. Melaka's chendol and the Peranakan food are still my favourites. The chicken rice and Bak Kut Tei are decent but cannot be compared to what you can get further north in Ipoh, Penang and KL. Heard there is a famous teochew restaurant inside a temple that serves very good food, anyone knows where it is?

Was in Jakarta recently. They serve surprising good local seafood (cooked in the local non-chinese style), anything similiar in Melaka that bros here can recommend?

Could anyone please provide the Co-ordinates for 肥李 RESTORAN LEE. The Restoran is near the Jusco shopping and not far from the Highway. Hear good reviews for their food. I want to taste their Cheese Bihoon and Fresh Cream Crabs.
