F1 2009 Season Discussion Thread

#1 Post by adilothman » Sun Mar 29, 2009 11:17 am

The circus is here again :

- illegal rear wing by Toyota
- controversial diffuser by 3 teams
- Williams complaint vs Ferrari post Quali
- F1 teams vs Bernie Ecclestone
- the heavy KERS (curse??)

What a way to start the season! Glad F1 is back!!

The new rules evens out the field such that even the lesser known teams with limited resources have a change of winning some of the races  .... for example looks which team is in "pole" posiiton .. a Brawn GP ... like everybody ... who is Brawn :-?

"Honda pass ownership of their Formula One team to team principal Ross Brawn in early March. The team is renamed Brawn GP for the 2009 season."
I guess this how Brawn came up! Anyway they score 18pts in the constructor standings. Well done
:good:

Vettel brings penalty along to Sepang.
Trulli loses his third spot.
Brainfades by Nakajima and Kimi.
Quite action packed for a first race!

Bring on Sepang! Previous years race starts at 3pm and finishes 5:00+pm. Get home around 7:30pm. This year race starts at 5:00+ plus Jamiroquai .. shudder to think what time f1 goers can stroll home ..

Those folks who paid full fare to attend the Sepang F1 must be furious - what a washout! Blame the organisers for changing the start time to 5pm (to please TV viewers in Europe). Well it was quite interesting while it lasted. Kudos to Ross Brawn - he's trully a technical genius; Jensen Button winning 2 consecutive races. Those guys in the scarlet cars must have lost the plot - screwing up Massa's qualifying, and then putting wet weather tyres on Kimi's car a few laps before the rains fell. They have been going downhill since the departure of Ross Brawn and the loss of Jean Todt to Michelle Yeoh! For a change, it is nice to see other manufacturers winning races. Those "illegal" rear diffusers really work; and KERS...Wow! Lets hope Shanghai has more to offer.

Sorry, I don't follow F1 too closely unless the Umbrella Girls are around, but why is Richard Branson taking the
limelight for Brawn after Melbourne? He got share ah?

Yeah, Virgin Air is one of Braun GP's sponsors. Branson is a astute and smart investor - he knows how to pick winners!
