Adil, looking fwd to Indiana Jones quadrology on New Year's Eve? Better get your DD 5.1 working.

Just discovered I was right after all re: digital audio output from decoder.

If I set output to Dolby Digital 5.1, my AVR can decode it but not my LCD. However this is only for HD channels, so no sound for these channels on my LCD - must use AVR. Normal channels not affected since they still use analogue audio (even if decoder is set to DD 5.1), so both AVR and LCD can reproduce it.

Bro niam,

If I'm not wrong HDMI do support both audio and video. Is there a setting you can do on the decoder or TV to enable audio? What version of HDMI is fitted in B.yond decoder?

You can read more HERE on HDMI.

Bro Moey, my media player connected to my Plasma TV through only the HDMI cable and I can get both video and audio when watching movies.

Yes, you are right, HDMI carries audio too. But my LG LCD (model 42LH35FR) is unable to decode the digital audio stream, hence I need the AVR to enjoy DD 5.1 on all HD channels. I can set the decoder to send out stereo analogue audio which the LCD can play, but then DD 5.1 sounds so much better. :)

Hi naim, why do you need new coaxial cabling from the dish to the decoder when your existing coaxial (from you previous setup) can do the job. This would reduce the hazard of drilling and laying new cabling.

The installer says new coax is certified for HD reception.

Raining now, but Astro b.yond is doing fine. Maybe the new dish does help. Watching the first Indiana Jones movie now on HBO-HD, 3 more to come. :)

I think bro Naim's AVR does not support HDMI. Current models of AVR mostly support HDMI. Usually 3 or 4 HDMI inputs with 1 output. If one is using this model of AVR, the HDMI out from the b.yond box goes to one of the AVR HDMI and the HD audio is processed by the AVR. The digital audio out from the b.yond box is not used in this configuration. If you have a BD player, that will take up another HDMI port of the AVR. This definitely highlight one of the perks of HDMI, which is less cable since the audio is also carried. Two HDMI cables cover audios and videos from both sources.

Just get confirmation call last Thursday... She said it will take 10 days for installer to install the unit... Hopefully will get it within that period. [-o<

bro naim, where did you get that amp from? and how much was it? is it easy installation? heard about it before but after seeing that you get full signal, i'd like to fix it too for my astro byond. thanks.
