Proton Introduce Lokatoo GPS in their cars

#1 Post by fred80_gps » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:54 am

Recently, i was stummed. I saw a GPS. I thought it was a China Brand GPS. Suddenly i look up for the brand and i saw the brand called "LOKATOO"...

My friend ask whether this device can be updated from our website and i said, hey! We can try it...

Then, i see the file system... Man!!!! WTF!!! There's no update for this device...

Well, LOKATOO is a Malaysian product and sadly, the map is ancient...

By the way, why we didn't know about these product before? And how the hell the Proton introduced this kind of product without updating those maps? Lu Fikir la Sendiri....

Marketing my friend.... You have not heard of it doesn't mean the Marketing Department of Lokatoo is sleeping.... Getting Proton to install it in their cars is proved that they have done their work well...

Malaysian can be innovative too and GPS offering by a Malaysian company should make us proud (unless you're non Malaysian) . The next best thing to do at MSM is to see if we can also compile this map format. This will certainly help many Malaysians.

Just my Dua Sen to overcome the Monday Blues.... Cheers!

extract from their site:

"Lokatoo GPS navigation products uses Digital Navigation Capable Maps (Peninsular Malaysia) powered by Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), which is the principal owner of these maps data. These digital navigation capable TM DNCMaps have vast amount of Points Of Interests(POIs), which provide informative data to users while navigating - a key value added feature that enhances customers’ driving satisfaction.

The Map Database will be maintained and updated by ACSB, which is the sub-licensee for the TM DNCMaps. It now covers the whole of Malaysia and is one of the most comprehensive maps covering all urban, sub-urban and rural areas. Improvements to the maps are ongoing and will be provided free for the time being. Effective March 2010, ACSB is releasing map updates on a monthly basis."

waah hv to do a friendly plus learning visit to this ACSB company and check on their map database software laa..

This is an old story. Previously they were using different name (can't remember what it was). Not sure how good the thing is, however, one thing for sure, there will always be a request to install GMXT into the device or they sell it cheap-cheap at lelong.com. :nehneh:

I know bro.... but I wanted to respect the forum ethic here by not elaborating on these Win CE devices.

Let's stop here....Thanks.
