I did the PCC MUDD ride at Cameron Highlans last month. I missed the last year event. Something popped in the last minute, so I had no choice but to cancel it. I took my family with me and dropped them at Father Guesthouse before I checked in the MNS chalet on Friday, a day before the ride.

Image
This is the trail profile of the ride. The ride starts at 28km mark at the elevation of more than 1600 meters and then plunging down to the elevation of 250, where Pos Mensun is located(at 64km mark). 36km of downhill fun, right? Wait till you do it and you tell if it were fun to do 36km downhill! Total distance ridden: ~65km.

Image
View of the road from MNS chalet to the Habu Boh Tea house on the day of the ride. It was about 7am in the morning. We were already 30 minutes behind schedule.

Image
Riders waiting to be loaded into school bus and to be taken to the starting at Batu 49 near Tringkap.

Image
The bus stopped at Tanah Rata for a quick breakfast.

Image
The Painmaster of PCC, the organizer of the ride, briefed the riders about what to expect from the ride. As usual, riders are eager to move on.

Image
Me next to the school at Pos Terisu, the first orang asi village we arrived after a fast and furious downhill on single lane tarmac. It started raining and I clocked 45kmh max on my Vista HCx.

Image
Painmaster did the briefing again and warned slippery trail ahead and may turn back if conditions did not allow us to continue!

Image
We rode on cemented path(slippery one too!) after Pos terisu. Heard from oncoming riders that there were clashes. Hmm...

Image
The road became laterite trail as we went further down.

Image
At some part it became muddy.

Image
I managed to ride down this steep slope. But most riders preferred to walk.

Image
Tree trunk blocking the trail, no thanks to the rain before the day!

Image
We reached the first river crossing. You can see from the picture that the bridge was missing from where it was supposed to be. Some found a bamboo bridge downstream.

Image
Yup, we crossed the river with this flimsy looking bamboo bridge!

Image
Image
Seen here are riders helping to carry the bikes before and after crossing the river respectively.

Image
The view of the second river crossing. We formed a human chain with the help of orang asli to cross the river. The under current was very strong. One of the riders lost his shoes when he was trying to cross.

Image
The orang asli village before Pos Mensun. I fell before reaching this village and I sprained my wrist, which slowed me down because I couldn't shift and brake.

Image
Somewhere after Pos Mensun. Time was about 5pm. I knew we wouldn't be able to make it to MNS Chalet before sunset since we still had about 19km to go.

Image
The view of Boh Tea estate on the second day. I made it to the chalet at 2am after I was rescued by sweeping vehicle at the edge of Boh Tea estate. I walked in the dark with a group of riders for almost 8 hours!

Image
Breakfast at MNS Chalet. Everybody shared their stories. First rider arrived at 9pm. Most arrive at time between 11pm to 2am. I was one of the last nine riders reached the chalet.

Image
The Father Guesthouse, the place where my long hair and little David put up for two nights.

Rooms of the guesthouse.

=D> Thanks for the pics. Hope your wrist is ok. The river looks dangerous. Easy to loose footing
esp when you are tired and also the bike shoes have those hard knobbly thing to grip the pedals
on its sole. :prayer: to your stamina and determination. You managed so many photos also. If me,
I think I :ko: and floating down the river already.
