Hiya Topoguy,

I might be going up to Sg Lepoh waterfall on 1 May 2008 (Labour Day/Thursday) or 18 May 2008 (Sunday). Taking some friends along to show them the splendour of nature and introduce them to nature's toll collectors a.k.a. leeches  .

April 2008 is off limit as there will be work during weekends ](*,) .

However 18 May 2008 may be quite difficult to go as the Eco-X Challenge will be held in Ulu Langat on the same day and the Sg Lepoh trail is part of the competition circuit, so we can expect lots of people and vehicles there. No fun. However, I would love to see the participants in action (just as I love watching the Eco Challenge series) which is why I am toying with the idea of going there on 18 May 2008.

By the way, the organiser found a nice drop which they will be using for canyoning. Here's the pic from their website:-

I'll post an update here about the planned Sg Lepoh waterfall hike in a couple of days.

cwyap, sir!

By the authority invested in me, I hereby appoint cwyap as the Expedition Commander-in-Chief. any trekkers found wilfully disobeying his instructions shall be banned from future hikes  :prayer:

yes, thanks for the military-precise schedule, which some of us will surely screw-up :D

I like the bit about equipment check and pre-departure briefing. Although it's a routine hike, I always believe in being prepared for any eventualities. That means having proper gear, water and food. sometimes my friends wonder why I bother to carry mess tins, easy to prepare foods, compass, whistle, etc. I always have a topo map from Jupem for the area that I hike.

yes, I',m looking forward to this expedition. later, I will draw up a list of equipment to bring (somethings like first aid kit could be shared- not everyone need have, just a reliable person to remember bring one).

so here's the roll-call again:

1. topoguy
2. cwyap & friends
3.

Saw this creature hopping around on the ground when I was taking my BH and TS Junior for our routine Youth Park hike last week. I thought I got an ant spider. That really got me excited. But upon checking out the picture it was not so. It looks like a wingless wasp or an ant. Still trying to figure out.

Some bugs shots during my weekend MTB ride and evening hike at the Youth Park, Penang.

I saw this red spider when I dismantled my bike after my weekend ride at Gertak Sanggul. It was my routine ride cum looking for potential trails for my future exploring(see here for details. Did not post it in MSM since it was just another weekend ride.). Half an inch in body length. It definitely looks like a Lynx spider but with less number of eyes.

I don't know what it is. My friend said it was an ant. Taken at Point 5 rest station when I took my little David and my BH for our weekend hike.

So far, participants list:-

1. topoguy
2. cwyap & friends (should be around 10 more)

Last week I went for a recce (but only up to the car park of Sg Lepok) - road condition ok for cars. So there shouldn't be any problem. The trail might be a bit challenging though given the current rainy spell, but heck... we will have some fun.

So, anyone else going?

topoguy, I PM you my h/p number so that we can keep in touch on that day particularly when we coordinate our rendevzous.

Cheers..
