You've to be ... how should I put it politically correctly ... street-challenged to buy cameras at the COMEX or any of the other 3 tech fairs held every quarter. The prices are controlled by the distributor and are list prices - they just throw in some freebies. There are many places in Singapore which will give good discounts ... quietly. :-$

Thanks for the info. Just got wind that distributors for D90 were told to clear stock and no new replenishment is given. This looks like an EOL and a new model coming soon.... X'mas?

Consumers going to trade shows expect some goodies offered and with price as shown... who wants to go? Or the trade shows are created to make the dealers look good?... :ko: I think both... if we are stupid enough to buy at that price they'll take our money... If we are smart to buy from a dealer they have achieve their aim... Really Win Win!... cheers!

Bro Moey,

My friend just bought EOS 550D Kit 1 for $1299. Another friend bought the d90 kit1 for $1450.

Both got it from funan center with local warranty and standard freebie.

Those sales brochure prices are not really offer prices.

Still waiting for the Nikon D7000 to appear in stalls in Malaysia. Anyone here lucky enough to audition one?

The D7000 is a damn good camera! But yet to try it out for myself.

http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d7000.htm

I usually search flickr site with the tag 'D7000 sooc' so I can see the 'pure' photos uploaded by the user and I have to say the images are astounding. If I have the dosh, I'll get myself one too.

PS. SOOC = Straight Out Of the Camera (i.e. no post processing)
