Lane Assist

#1 Post by SilverBeauty » Fri Jun 12, 2009 11:03 am

May I ask when will this feature be made available in the MSM maps ? This is a more useful feature vs the Junction View which can benefit most users especially in high urban areas roads with multiple lanes / exits. I believe this feature may be supported only in the newer generation of Nuvis ie.. 700 series / 255W / 20X series ...

Yep. Lane Assist will be supported. Garmin was rushing for the compilation of 2009.5 and didnt have time to perfect the coding for Lane Assist. We hope to be able to do it in the next version (after 2009.5)

Hi Adil, thanks for the reply. Will this feature be made available for global sets vs JCV which is available only to market specific sets ? :tq:

It will be a painful/massive job for mappers to code this lane assist data with our current tool, mapedit. We are still looking for a better working solution.

This is a work-in-progress for KL map for Lane Assist. It won't make it in the 2009.5 version since we ran out of time for testing. Look for it in the August 09 NT release.

Since we have managed to get the coding right, the main focus for Lane Assist for the next NT release, IMO, should be Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Penang.
