See if warranty can be use or not....

If bought with local warranty, can send to NaviCom@Textile Centre #10-03, else if bought overseas then have to get RMA from Garmin Taiwan and send there. You have to pay for shipment.

Garmin Etrex H launched in the US

#5 Post by waypoint » Sat Aug 18, 2007 6:56 am

Yes, the plain-vanilla high-sensitivity unit has finally a launch date and will be available in US stores by 30 Aug.

At US$135 a pop inclusive of S&H to Singapore at eBay, it's an attractive unit to consider as part of your emergency kit.

It still uses RS-232 for data transfer. A good news for someone who would like to connect their eTrex to other equipments for data processing purpose or obtain more accurate tracking using DGPS.

My one month old Nuvi 310 suddenly stopped connecting to the GPS satellites and I sent it back to Navicom. They were quite helpful and sent the unit back to Taiwan... I just got it back after nearly a month... however, they couldn't tell me what was wrong, just that it's been fixed. I hope and pray that it will be more reliable from now on. By the way, the day I sent it in, the lady there told me that I may have corrupted the unit by installing the custom POIs from this site- I doubt that's true, think mine was a clear hardware failure as I was using the software without problems for nearly a month.

Actually I did! I reset the Nuvi and used back the original map SD card... but I did say I had installed the POI software... anyway it was fixed under warranty. I wish I knew what broke though... if it broke again outside of warranty I don't even know whether it'd be worth fixing!
