Viewing with Mapsource

#1 Post by joedoss » Tue Mar 24, 2009 1:04 pm

I guess the question I'm going to ask is going to sound silly to many... but I can't seem to view the v2.30b maps in mapsource. I must be doing something wrong during the installation!!!! ](*,)

1) MSM-MySinG maps are unlocked but when viewed shows a map with "map details locked" at the bottom right corner. No map details can be viewed.

2) MSM-BorneoG maps remained locked.

I've extracted all the .img maps using "sendmap20" and used my unlock codes and it works on my nuvi250.

My Question:- Where and when do we use the unlock codes when installing the maps to be viewed by mapsource?

Sorry once again if this question seems silly......... btw. I had no problems with v2.29.

:tq:

1) MSM-MySinG maps are unlocked but when viewed shows a map with "map details locked" at the bottom right corner. No map details can be viewed.
This tells you that your maps are still not unlocked. Thus no map details can be viewed.

2) MSM-BorneoG maps remained locked.
Same explaination as above.
I've extracted all the .img maps using "sendmap20" and used my unlock codes and it works on my nuvi250.

My Question:- Where and when do we use the unlock codes when installing the maps to be viewed by mapsource?
When you run the MSM installer, it will register your map into mapsource after which at end of installation, installer will prompt you to enter 25 alpha-numeric code to unlock map. If you somehow skip or miss this step, when you run mapsource, it will inform you that one or some of maps is LOCKED and whether you want to unlock it.

Sorry once again if this question seems silly......... btw. I had no problems with v2.29.

Thanks SilverBeauty for the reply.

These are the steps I took during installation:

1) Ran "MSM-MySinG.exe" installer

2) Followed instruction. eg. "next" and folder creation/location

3) Continue to create gmapsupp.img? Choose yes.

4) Type customaization : Full

5) Include Road Poi: Yes

6) Include SG postal code: yes

7) Entered 25 digit code (same code used for my nuvi 250) Nuvi 250 no problems.

Same results - unable to view maps...... Where did I go wrong? Is there a different 25 digit code I'm supposed to obtain for use with mapsource? ](*,)

Thanks in advance..... :tq:

Try this

Uninstall Mapsource

Do a regedit to remove ALL traces of Mapsource and map files ..

Reinstall mapsource

Download MSM from this link viewtopic.php?f=26&t=31

Install into mapsource

See if you can see detail.

SilverBeauty,
Thanks for taking the time to answer........ I finally figured it out ](*,) , once I saw the link you gave me. I realized I was using the gold version to try and view in mapsource ](*,) , I used the public version and all is good now! Thanks a million again!
